Itinerary description
This is known as the Big Qualicum Regional Trail located in the Regional District of Nanaimo.Note: This part of the trail is running parallel to the Big Qualicum Hatchery Road which runs below.
Starting point was from the Qualicum Bay RV park to Cochrane road and the go to the Cochrane/Island hwy bridge crossing, turn left on to old rail way grade before the bridge crossing the island hwy, old rail grade runs parallel to Island hwy, down to Island hwy Qualicum River bridge, go under bridge to continue old log train trail to Horne Lake, went about 1/2 way then turned back, once back on the east side of the island hwy, head back on the lower old rail grade back to Cochrane Rd.
