Itinerary description
Park at village entrance by sign and walk up into village, left after 50m then right on small road at sign after another 100m. You return by the left road. (Possibly 1 car per day on these roads.) Follow this road mainly through woods until you see a farm and look out for jeep track on left at sign. Trail then on jeep track through the amazing eroded black shale and woods up to great views across the mountains.
The black shale catchment has been instrumented by geologists studying the erosion.
The trail leaves the jeep track and traverses the black shale for the last 2 km to return to the village. This is easy if dry but would be very slippery and sticky if wet.
It is best to go clockwise round this trail as last third is over black shale which is easier to descend.
