Itinerary description
Technical difficulty: 1.5/5
Note #1: The hiking region around Baška is mostly on rocky (karst) terrain. Although the terrain around Obzova & Veli vrh do have more vegetation than the "Moon Plateau" (which is on the eastern side from Baška) - it's still 100% without shade. In the hotter months, do the hike either during cloudy weather, early morning, or late afternoon. Bring lots of water, there are no springs with drinking water anywhere.
Note #2: This region is naturally windy, even during the hotter months.
Note #3: The trail can be lengthened or shortened at will, there are a few branching paths after Obzova (towards Punat, Baška, Stara Baška, etc). Consult either Wikiloc for ideas, or the interactive map of the Croatian Mountaineering Association (HPS): https://www.hps.hr/karta/
Note #4: I may have gotten the name of the ponds wrong, they're not marked by any written signs on their actual locations.

This trail starts from Treskavac pass, where there's ample free parking space. It goes over karst terrain, with sparse greenery, mostly low shrubs. It passes by several natural ponds (used by livestock, not for drinking), and visits 3 peaks - Veli vrh, Brestovica and Obzova. The trail can be taken in reverse without any issues, you decide the direction at Intersection #2.
Waypoints
Parking
Free parking, right near the start of the trail. There's also ample free parking on junction before this one (where you get off the main road and take a right). However, if you park there you're further away from the start of the trail and you have to go over a boring asphalt/carriage road.
Intersection #2 / to Veli vrh - Obzova
This is where you decide whether you want to follow the trail in our direction, or in reverse.
Veli vrh (541 m)
(eng. Great peak; common peak name in Croatia) The first of the 2 peaks visited on this trail. Offers a great 360° view in all directions.
Brestovica (555 m)
Another peak, not particularly interesting to hikers; marked by a big stone mound.
Obzova (568 m)
The highest peak on Krk island, and also the only official peak on Krk that's part of the Croatian Hiking Trail (Hrvatska planinarska obilaznica, or HPO).
Intersection #3 / go to the left side of the dry-stone wall, then straight
You'll need to het to the left side of this dry-stone wall.
Woods
One of the rare woody areas on the otherwise barren karst, you will most likely find flocks of sheep resting here.
Pond 'Vela lokva'
(eng. Great pond, literally) It's not that great in size, and it's not safe to drink, of course.
