Itinerary description

This approach to Dorset Peak is from the north, outside the town of Danby. It follows an old road, now snowmobile/ATV route, that leaves near a field and continues to the summit. At the ridge it joins the more traditional route (on the right). Turn left, and continual to follow the ATV trail. The ridge is a mile to the actual summit. Whether this route is shorter/easier than the "traditional" route is debatable - but it does remove the confusion of whether the tower near the subpeak of the "traditional" route is the actual summit (it's not). We parked near the tree and walked a short distance to the fence - watch for an ATV-sized opening in the fence.
