Trail announced difficult.
At 8am in Portsmouth, a guide suggests that I leave the next day because it is too late (duration of 7am according to him) and advises a departure at 6-7am max.
7h of trek with a departure at 9am seems playable to me --> Late start at 9:30 am solo, which will force me to turn around 600 m before the summit which is at the end of a ridge line to the east, but already beautiful views.
- 3h45 climb (there was 45 min left at my pace).
- 1h10 descent.
If I had known I would have gone to the end but caution requires, night falls quickly.
No difficulty in orientation, there is only one trace.
Difficult and grueling path:
ankle deep mud at times, roots everywhere and high rocky steps, some cooler parts but not so much.
Wet forest sometimes very dark, slippery rocks.
Top for budding adventurers who are not afraid of a few slips, nor of putting their hands, buttocks, ...
Lush vegetation and varied passages, views of great beauty if the weather is open (lucky).
Curious hummingbirds come buzzing in your ears at the end of the first third, then land to observe you if you stop.
Once down, syndicate (Milton) falls is not far, returning to portsmouth (on the left after a few km), worth it, swimming under a waterfall of good size and deserted. Perfect after the dreary...
