DOGTREK - The Soca Fortresses, Fortezza italiana sull'Isonzo del 1930

La zona dell'Isonzo e più in generale quella dell'Istria offre l'opportunità di immergersi nella storia recente delle due guerre mondiali. Permette di toccarla con mano regalando esperienze e paesaggi lunari e fantastici. Questo percorso è uno di quelli, qui la storia è viva e ti permette toccarla fino in fondo.

Per quanto il percorso sia segnato nei volantini turistici non è semplicissimo trovarlo, al di fuori del "Soca trail" il sentiero che sale alla fortezza non è ne segnato, ne battuto, qui e lì si trovano piste che la vegetazione sta coprendo. Noi siamo andati molto all'avventura per questo la traccia sopratutto intorno al sito storico, non è lineare.
Il bunker è completamente esplorabile, consiglio però di fare molta attenzione (ci sono buchi nella pavimentazione e si può perdere l'orientamento all'interno) e di portare una torcia adeguata per illuminare gli stanzoni interni.
Il bunker inoltre può essere una piacevole deviazione sul Soca trail, quindi può essere una tappa di un escursione più lunga sull'isonzo. Noi abbiamo voluto fare un giro corto dopo quasi un intera giornata di pioggia.

Con noi Daisy, un meticcio di pastore maremmano che non ha avuto nessuna difficoltà, anzi ci ha aiutato a trovare il percorso. Per la maggior parte è tutto all'ombra, ma non ha fonti di acqua, tuttavia vista la sua brevità e visto il fiume i cane può rifocillarsi lì se è abituato.

Percorrendo la riva dell'Isonzo seguendo il Soca Trail si arriva ad un intersesione che chiama "Maljnk" indicando a destra (waypoint), seguendo l'indicazione si arriva sulla strada qui non c'è assolutamente nulla che segna il sentiero se non una piccola pista nell'erba. Di fatto attraversando la fortezza è esattamente di fronte a noi a mezza costa, bisogna quindi attraversare ed iniziare a salire dritti per dritti il monte. Dopo poco si troverà una sorta di strettissimo sentiero delimitato da dei pali di legno a terra. Continuando a salire ad un certo punto dalla vegetazione spunteranno le bocche di fuoco, l'atmosfera è da Apocalipse Now, si cammina aspettandosi che le tribù del Colonnello possano osservarci dalla fitta vegetazione.
Il sentiero gira intorno alla fortezza fino a portarci ai due ingressi con delle pesanti porte di metallo. Entrambe sono aperte e si può entrare, dentro ci sono molti segni del passaggio delle persone tra cui un inquietantissimo ritratto di una ragazza in una stanza. Se entrate fatelo con moltissima attenzione. All'interno si possono vedere i bagni dei militari italiani, le postazioni di fuoco e le stanze dove vivevano. Finito il giro si torna indietro per la stessa strada fino alla macchina.

Although the route is marked in the tourist flyer it is not easy to find it, outside the "Soca trail" the trail that goes up to the fortress is neither marked nor beaten, here and there there are tracks that the vegetation is covering. We went on a lot of adventure so the track above all around the historic site is not linear.
The bunker is completely explorable, but I recommend to be very careful (there are holes in the pavement and you can lose orientation inside) and to bring a suitable torch to illuminate the internal rooms.
The bunker can also be a pleasant detour on the Soca trail, so it can be a stop on a longer hike on the Soča. We wanted to take a short tour after almost a full day of rain.

With us Daisy, a mestizo of Maremma shepherd who had no difficulty, on the contrary she helped us find the path. For the most part it is all in the shade, but it has no sources of water, however given its shortness and the river the dog can refresh himself there if he is used to it.

Going along the bank of the Isonzo following the Soca Trail you arrive at an intersection called "Maljnk" pointing to the right (waypoint), following the indication you arrive on the road here there is absolutely nothing that marks the path if not a small track in the grass. In fact, crossing the fortress it is exactly in front of us halfway up the hill, so you have to cross and start climbing straight up the mountain. After a while you will find a sort of very narrow path bordered by wooden poles on the ground. Continuing to climb at a certain point from the vegetation, the mouths of fire will emerge, the atmosphere is from Apocalipse Now, you walk expecting that the Colonel's tribes can observe us from the dense vegetation.
The path goes around the fortress until it takes us to the two entrances with heavy metal doors. Both are open and you can enter, inside there are many signs of the passage of people including a very disturbing portrait of a girl in a room. If you enter, do it very carefully. Inside you can see the bathrooms of the Italian military, the fire stations and the rooms where they lived. At the end of the tour, go back along the same road to the car.
