Itinerary description
You can start this hike by going out of exit 1 at Dobongsan station. Go across the street and follow all of the food tents and hiking gear stores to the start of the trail (just follow the crowds). Great news is there are some great hiking gear stores on the way back to the trail including Gregory, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, Marmot, Arc'teryx and plenty more.
This is a great hike that will take you to the top of Dobongsan with great views of Bukhansan and Suraksan across the valley along with views all the way to Incheon on clear days. Beware that the last 500 meters up are very steep rock stairs and it takes about an hour. Also on the way up is Cheonchuksa Temple (천축사) which is very beautiful. There is an amazing view of it with the peak in the background. You can go down the backside of the mountain to Mangwolsa Station. Towards the end, just follow the street and it will take you all the way to Mangwolsa Station.
I marked this trail as difficult due to the steepness of the rock stairs going up during the last 500m. With breaks, stops for pictures and lunch on the peak, the entire hike took about 6 hours, just over 3 hours of actual moving time.
