Itinerary description
This is the short circular dirtopia trail starting from Muratie Wine Estate. The trail is easy and the path is well defined and well marked with blue arrows (for hikers and trail runners) there are a few cycling trails which one could do as a variation but you will need to be careful of and give way to fast moving cyclists. The trail starts out through the gardens in front of Muratie Homestead and gently ascends in gum and wattle plantations before reaching the top of the hill. Views over the surrounding Stellenbosch mountains, vineyards and to Table Mountain are all plentiful. The Fynbos on the north slope is in recovery and we'll protected. Thereafter the trail descends via well maintained steps and follows the river back to the starting point. Easy enough for families with children and the unfit. This hike is popular as a full moon trail..

Easy
Very easy and very well signposted, lovely short nature/farm and vineyard walk to stretch the legs. Can be done with children and the unfit. Bonus optional wine tasting and or restaurant at Muratie afterwards.
