Itinerary description

A 6-day hiking route in the highest range of Montenegro and Albania. Perfect for autumn: not that hot, wonderful scenery (but nights can be freezing).
The trail is marked rather well, but this concerns only the main route. Many tracks which are shown on OpenStreetMaps in reality do not exist.
Water is in deficit: most streams and springs are in fact empty. It is therefore preferable to plan camping sites near villages or bars.
Maja Jezercë requires climbing (although gear is not a must).
Border permits are stated to be necessary in case of multi-day stay in a neighbouring country, but in fact no-one really inquired for this staff. Note that the border police in Plav do not work on Sundays, and their signature/stamp is required for the border crossing.
It is vital to have cash for expenses in either Montenegro or Albania as cards are hardly anywhere accepted.

Hello! We are planning to follow your route! Did you take the tent tour or did you find places to sleep? from Plav to Valbone, is it signposted or is there an obvious path???
    thank you!!!

    hello!
I would definitely advise you to take a tent, because the tourist huts can be found only in the villages. between Plav and Valbone (2-day walk) there is a small wooden shelter on Gropa Memina, but I wouldn’t rely on it.
in that area the tourist treks usually intersect with numerous shepherds’ tracks, so perhaps the best way would be to have a navigator like Maps.Me or OsmAnd just to be on the safe side. these maps also mark water springs, which is essential along the route.
