Dalimilova rozhledna - lookout tower, Větrov and Paprsek
Another autumn trip in the Jeseníky region - a mountain range in the Eastern Sudetes, in the Czech Republic, and more specifically in the Rychlebské Mountains. This time a trip from the picturesque village of Kronfelzov, near the village of Branná. The settlement charmed us with its location and picturesque linden trees. The main goal was to climb Mount Paprsek (1007 m above sea level) and take a short rest with a mug of Kofola and further, to the Větrov hill (918 m above sea level), where the newly built Dalimilova Rozhledna lookout tower, commissioned in July 2021, has recently opened.
Dalimilova rozhledna as a historical memento
Dalimilova rozhledna is an interesting object in that, apart from its location, it is an excellent historical attraction. The tower is almost a copy of the tower in Śnieżnik, a few kilometers away, which was built in the years 1895–1899 and was demolished in 1973 under the pretext of poor technical condition. In order to demolish it effectively, only the second explosive, planted by Wrocław military sappers, was effective. Today it is estimated that the decision to demolish the tower on Śnieżnik was too hasty and unnecessary. At the time of publishing this report, the construction of a new tower in Śnieżnik is underway.
Tourist hit - Dalimilova rozhledna
The Dalimilov Tower on Větrov Hill was built by Dalimil Mika (hence its name), son of the owner of the Paprsek ski complex, Miloslav Mika. “I was born a year after the demolition of the lookout tower at Králický Sněžník. My parents often told me about it and showed me pictures. I've always liked it a lot. So I thought that I would build a replica and took the opportunity to build it in Větrov, ”Dalimil Mika described his motivation. The structure was designed by Jiře Tomeček's Ateliér A design studio. “It was a fun job that did not fit with what we do at other companies. Our goal was to bring the project as close as possible to the historic form of the tower, of course adjusting it to today's standards and regulations, ”comments the designer for iDNES (Czech information portal). The architects relied on the available historical documents and photographs of the former tower in Śnieżnik.
Dalimilova Rozhledna on the top of Větrov is 34 meters high and from the very beginning it is a great tourist asset for the area. Another is the second new lookout tower in the Staroměstský region. About a year before Dalimilova Rozhledna was put into operation, the construction of the lookout tower on Štvanice hill, also a tourist hit, was completed.
