The Everest Base Camp, located at 5,364 meters, for many is the highlight of an adventure, for others the beginning of an ascent that will lead them to try to reach the roof of the world, but in both cases in a corner in the that breathes mountain history.

We start walking up the glacier valley, always with the Nuptse as a guide, following a path that is gaining height very smoothly and gradually.

Soon we reached the crossroads that would have to take us to the Pyramid, but we threw on the right and continued to gain meters, with a Pumori who greets us, somewhat shy, hiding in thin clouds.

Here the valley opens a lot, being able to see a panoramic of several 7,000's that is scary, especially to think that next to it there are even higher moles that exceed 8,000 meters ...

After a while we arrived at the point where on the previous day I arrived acclimatizing, just the point where the climb begins that will have to take us to the Lobuche Pass.

Here I decide not to stop and take advantage of a moment that does not see people or many people going down, which will allow me to keep my pace without disturbing anyone.

Already at the top of the Lobuche Pass I find myself face to face with the Pumori, which is getting closer and looks more imposing, so with such views it is a perfect place to take a few minutes of rest to drink and eat something.

After the short break it is time to get back on track, now flattening and always following a marked path that leads us directly to the Chanri Shar glacier.

Now it is time to get serious, since this will be the first glacier that I will have to cross, that although I always walk along the land above the ice, it is a very decomposed terrain that is going up-down, and that more than 5,000 meters, makes you have to be with all the senses and do not overexert yourself more than leave you grogui for a while.

After a good while we finally saw Gorak Shep, with the Kalapathar and the Pumori just above.

Finally we arrive at Gorak Shep, with the Kalapathar just to your left, that "hill" of 5,643 meters

Here we look for a lodge where we can sleep and we are lucky to find a room in the first one we asked, so after leaving the junk and taking only a small backpack, we have to go looking for one of the main objectives of the route.

First we advance through the large dry lake on which Gorak Shep sits, always with the Changtse in front, very well accompanied by the Pumori and the Nuptse.

After overcoming the esplanade we begin to climb the moraine of the Khumbu glacier, always looking for the simplest steps, since sometimes we find a couple of detours, but there is no problem, since for one or the other we always arrive at the same place .

During the advance, at the moment of walking along the edge of the moraine, we can glimpse one of the most beautiful images, the Everest behind a landmark and prayer flags, a vision that we have seen so many times in photos or documentaries, the I can see with my own eyes.

From here you can also see the base camp, the problem is that when there is no expedition we can not see any store, but that will not take away its charm.

Finally, after a flight in a plane of the year of María Castaña and 9 days of walking, I can finally say that I have reached the Everest Base Camp.

My intention was to get as close as possible to the ice cascade, but as we approached they did not stop falling avalanches, there was also a huge serac just above the waterfall, so prudence could more than the desire to explore.

Here we were having a good time taking photos and enjoying the corner, which although it is not the prettiest of trekking, it is a special place where mountain history is breathed, and everything and the height, one feels elated and eager to continue climbing, until reaching the highest point on the planet, Everest.

After enjoying the base camp, we only had to retrace the steps and return to the lodge of Gokar Shep, where we ate, took a good nap and were reading until it was time for bed, which did not lengthen much, since the next day I played Get up early to climb the Kalapathar.
