Another of the most incredible routes in the Albanian Alps🇦🇱🇦🇱. You will also find it in any travel blog, and it is not for less, because the end in the Blue eye is tremendous.

After arriving in Theth the day before, following this route, https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/dia-2-valbone-theth-77151713, this morning we left a little before 8AM from the accommodation in the Gurra Family guesthouse to visit the Ujëvara waterfall, or in English "Grunas Waterfall", and continue to the Blue Eye, a small natural lake in the middle of a unique landscape.

This time the path is not as well marked as yesterday, however to get to the waterfall there are blue marks next to the riverbed that help to find it easily. We quickly found it, as it is located less than 2 km from the town, so it can be visited even on a quick getaway from the town. Here, the waterfall is not too spectacular, but it is worth a visit.

Now, to cross the waterfall, be very careful 👁️, because the water level is high and you have to get your shoes wet. This point would be for me the only one with some difficulty in the whole route. When we cross it, we begin a descent to the canyon that is quite easy to follow and with great views, until at km 5.5 we find a bridge that crosses the north bank of the river. From there, the path opens and at km 7 we already find the bar that marks the start of the climb to the Blue Eye.

As it is early, we hardly meet people, and we start the climb to the Blue Eye without stopping too long. They are about 2.5km approximately, also easy to follow and very very beautiful. 👁️ EYE 👁️ here again, because we met 2 snakes on the way. Just do not go near them and nothing will happen, since apparently these animals are quite common in this valley.

When we got to the Blue Eye, we sat down to enjoy ourselves for about 45 minutes, and even tried to bathe in the water, which the owners of the bar tell us is only 4º, so we only dare with our feet.

After saying goodbye to the Blue Eye, we started down to the bar. It must be taken into account here that the GPS lost the signal temporarily, but we did the descent and ascent from the same place. As we go down, we already find quite a few people going up towards the Blue Eye, since we saw that this is the most visited point in the Albanian Alps.

Once we got to the bar, we started looking for travel companions to return to Shkodra, with the luck that we found an Italian-Slovak family who has a private driver who takes us back to Theth by 4x4, giving us the option of reaching the transport that left at 2:00 p.m. from the village, to allow us to reach Shkodra before 5:00 p.m. Anyway, we knew that the way back is the one that goes through the 4x4, on the north bank of the river, you don't have to cross the bridge again to get back to the waterfall. It lasts approximately 2 hours.

❗ RECOMMENDATIONS! ❗
- It is recommended to start this route before 8AM in summer, as it is quite hot.
- It is important to bring at least 1.5L of water, since although there are many natural sources along the way, we must always have reserve water.
- You must have good mountain shoes, waterproof to cross the waterfall.
- There are quite a few insects, a protector or repellent will do you good.
- We stayed at the Gurra Guesthouse, where they did speak English and they offered us an incredible dinner and breakfast, for € 10 night and breakfast + € 10 dinner.

Finally, talk to the locals, even if they don't know English they will help you as much as possible, so we get 2 return transfers, to Theth (free) and Shkodra (for € 10).

Thank you all,
Ken and Nacho
