With 5,357 meters high, the Gokyo Ri rises over the lakes and the town of Gokyo, becoming a privileged viewpoint over the Ngozumpa glacier, from which we can see up to 4 8,000's in a spectacular 360º view.
As soon as we leave the lodge, we meet the majestic Cho Oyu as we head towards the Gokyo Lake in search of the path that will take us to the top.
Right at the base of the mountain we find a sign that marks the vertical path to follow to reach the top of Gokyo Ri.
The first section of the climb pulls quite upwards, along a fairly broken path and with many variants, so it is highly recommended to make stops from time to time to contemplate the spectacular views of Gokyo and its lake below, a real pass.
After this first section the path softens a bit, and already reaching the end, just when a chaos of rocks and blocks emerges, the thing returns to pull up but for a short time, since we immediately reach the busy top of Gokyo Ri.
Upon reaching the top one can not fail to marvel, since the views from there are brutal, being able to see almost entirely the Ngozumpa glacier, the lower Gokyo lakes and up to a total of four 8,000's, the Cho Oyu , Makalu, Lhotse and Everest, for me, the viewpoint with the best views of the entire trekking.
In this place you can not stay for a while enjoying the surroundings and talking with the people who are arriving.
After a good while at the top I decide to return to the lodge, so I embark on the way down, which is none other than the same climb, in addition to the impressive day we have is perfect to enjoy the views of Lake Gokyo, so I don't stop making stops to take pictures.
Already again in the lake it is necessary to border it, yes, always enjoying it as well as the spectacular mountains that surround it while I go to the lodge to have a black tea with mint while I enjoy a book and spectacular views of the lake Gokyo and Cho Oyu.
