Itinerary description

This is the combined track of the Red Beds trail and the Tower trail at Devil's tower. The track time is misleading because it was actually hiked in two sections, plus a lot of time was spent watching the rock-climbers near the ladder viewing area. Officially the Tower trail is easy as it is paved, but the first few dozen yards are steep and could be difficult for infirm individuals. The Red Beds trail is unpaved and the NPS rates it as moderate.

Devils Tower National Monument

Ladder viewing tubes

There are metal tubes welded in place on stands here so you can pick out the remains of the wooden ladder used in the fisrt known ascent to Devil's Tower summit. There is no magnification as it can be seen with the naked eye once it is pointed out where to look.
