Itinerary description
Historically significant site from the Goldrush era that provides stunning canyon vistas on the descent to Devil's Gate.
Trailhead is at Deadwood Cemetery via Western States proceeding Southwest. At the first Forest road you encounter go to your left (east). Follow this out onto trail #6. Trail to Devils gate will be on your right (South) in a manzanita grove. Trail to the river is well established and easy to follow.
On your way out on the Forest Road be sure to stop for a cold and refreshing stop at the water-well installed for the Tevis Cup. It is ~1-mile from the deadwood cemetery site and will be on your left (North-West) on your way out. The area has signage with the trail history and a picnic table.
