Itinerary description
A good friend mentioned this route to me, and I also saw it in the book by Rafael Flores Domínguez. We finally decided to do it on 26 December 2012. First of all I must point out that the book says that you can walk from the Waypoint Mirador 1 to Mirador 2, not so! The river has swollen and it flows directly into the sea and it is necessary to go to the Waypoint Bridge in order to enter the Paraje Natural. We did some 7km along the pathways, stopping at the 5 observatories to view the landscape, the lagoons, and many different types of birds. We saw cormorants, herons, cranes and a few common flamingos, and other birds we didn´t recognise. The pink flamingos have not arrived yet. There is also a fantastic range of wetland´s flowers to be seen. It is an easy and very nice walk, but don´t forget to bring your binoculars and camera. Thanks Micheal for insisting, we eventually did this route.
