Itinerary description
Acclimatisation day 6.
Slower climb until 4800m but feeling much better between 4800-5100m.
Met a couple and surprisingly, I was talking with them from the 4100m to 4800m.
The purpose was to get acclimatise and after trying to summit Chimborazo (6263m). Unfortunately, this will not be possible this year. 3weeks ago, a canadian died due an avalanche (~5900m).
The group of two were unaccompanied and they started the summit after 7am.
I know that I wasn't the only climber waiting for better conditions but due the avalanche a 2m wall of snow is not compacted yet.
And to worse the situation, the wind season arrived earlier to Ecuador and the speed is 60-100km/h.
I got the opportunity to speak with an officer at the park and he told me that a new communication will be published soon to inform that all 'high mountain'(>5000m) activities will remain prohibited.
So, friends if you know anyone that is willing to come to Ecuador in the near future pay attention to 'Ministerio del Ambiente Zonal 3'.
