Seventh stage of the Road to Jerusalem
We left early as the stage was promised to last over 30 km. The reality has been quite worse.
The first 10 km have been beautiful, walking along the banks of the Jordan River, which we never imagined will carry so much water and create such idyllic landscapes.
The following 8 km we have crossed military terrain, through which the passage is theoretically prohibited, since it runs along the border with Jordan. The truth is that we have not had any problems, although the electrified fencing, the watchtowers and the minefield warnings are threatening ... an experience.
Starting with Gesher, a small settlement that heroically resisted in the 1948 war with Jordan, the road has been quite monotonous under a fair sun and 30 degrees temperature.
This section is made by roads parallel to Highway 90 that connects the Sea of Galilee from north to south with the Dead Sea, although sometimes you have to go by the maple tree which is somewhat dangerous since there is a lot of traffic.
After more than 35 km of stage we have arrived in Beit She'an quite dehydrated and battered.
The HI Beit She'an planned accommodation had been canceled and we have stayed in a tourist accommodation.
