Category: very heavy.
Route:
• Unmarked path.
• The optional climb of the Ryten is very heavy.
Duration: 5 hours without the Ryten / 7.5 hours with the Ryten.
The 543-meter-high block of granite in front of you is called Ryten and can be controlled in a relatively short time (calculate 90 minutes before the climb and an hour before the descent). Follow the steeply ascending path that meanders north-east along a nameless river. After that short, steep climb (250 meters in less than no time) you reach the Fossvatnet, an idyllic lake in a valley basin. You can take a breath.
If you are sufficiently recuperated to start the second part of the climb, take the path that turns away from the lake in a north-westerly direction and leads diagonally up to the top of the Ryten. If you manage to develop an appropriate pace, this part will not put you in trouble anymore. At the top the prizes are awarded: breathtaking views, with a special mention for the fabulous sandy beaches of Kvalvika, Ramberg and Flakstad.
Please note: a perpendicular fall in the icy Norwegian Sea is not a pleasant end to a holiday, so keep a sufficient distance from the dangerously gaping abyss! You follow the same route for the descent.
