Itinerary description
After getting good weather and having clear views, boy did this hike leave me speechless. It's truly panoramic and you see the bays in different angles. Beautiful area to do lots of hiking!
The trails I found can easily be followed on maps.me or something similar. At the beginning, shortly after the trailhead starts, I encountered some rocks and later, a wooden fence. It's here that the trail disappeared and so I had no choice but to go up the rocks to try to find it. I found it going north. So just when you get to the rocks, look around carefully. Going up was fine, some annoying shrubs but otherwise, good trail. You will notice the GPS stopped responding and when it did, I had already hiked up quite a bit. In this case, just follow the trail and you'll be fine (recording is a bit messed up).
Once at the top, appreciate the views. I decided to hike to the pass going north bypassing an abandoned village. After the initial battle with thorny, berry vines the trail is surprisingly open and clear. At the pass, I hiked up to the hill to your immediate left and was rewarded with amazing views. I recommend this little detour. Just stay on the ridge on the rocks and it's easy to go up. To go down, it's easy as it's not steep and little shrubbery.
It gets tricky after reaching the signpost as markings aren't so prevalent here. Essentially, after going down a bit, the trail should be to your left (there's a fork maybe 100 meters after the sign). However, after this, I had trouble finding it again (perhaps I missed it) but essentially look for the church and that's where you'll find the trail going up the nearest slope (with markings this time).
My other comment here is that I really recommend going to the lookout point Pestingrad. It's completely worth it. Different view from all the others you will have seen thus far. You will be able to see Kotor old city here. I went back via climbing the peak right behind. There's supposed to be a trail but it's just going up the rocks. Then down, I had to find the rocks in between the shrubs and trees to come down faster. So lots of rocks scrambling here. You can also skip the peak and go back the same way. It didn't provide much more views-wise.
Lastly, after the Krstac pass, I continued on the road to check out the cave. Quite a cool sight and full of pigeons! Then the standard trail through the fort to get to Kotor.

Nice hike. I would recomend to start early this hike as we compleated it in 10 hours with shortcuts.
Hi there.
The trail looks very interesting.
Could you please tell me if there are any technical parts on the trail, for example, narrow paths next to vertical cliffs, or exposed parts where, someone experiencing acrophobia (fear of hights) would have an issue?
Thank you.
*I do not remember
Hi, and thanks for your quick reply. If there are no parts with an abyss next to a narrow passage, it should be fine. Also, a bit of climbing would be ok. Another question regarding the descending towards the fortress: when you write that care should be needed, you mean to be careful for joint pain and not to slip and hit, not that there is any risk of falling from a cliff. Do you think that doing the trail the opposite way would be easier, from this perspective? Sorry for the many questions, but it would be better to know in advance. Thanks once again!
No problem. I accidentally deleted my previous comment (swipe to delete is too sensitive of a feature I think). But yes, you guessed right. I meant in regards to slipping as it's steep (no cravasses or anything like that). The nice thing about doing it the direction I did it in, you don't have to pay for the fortress. You can just exit like everyone else (at least it was like that then). But if you don't care about that and steepness to go up, yeah, it would be better. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot!
The trail is very dirty, a lot of plants and no good visibility
I did say there were berry plants in my description but I did have amazing views. I'm sorry you didn't 🙏🏾
