Itinerary description
Highly recommend hiring a guide for this walk as the paths are over grown and easy to mistake for animal trails. Machete was useful up-front to take out any stinging/barbed plants. It was hot, humid and slippery. Leeches abound, and we wore knee-length leggings purchased online for ~50THB that did a great job.
This walk descends from the Day 2 campsite down to the first mangosteen farms where we stopped for lunch before descending further along the concrete paths (steep & slippery!), all the way to the main road where you could follow for a few more kilometers back to Khiriwong or organise a motorbike lift to town like we did. April-May is the recommended time to undertake the hike. We had great weather but that is unusual for this time of year (September) but were willing to risk it in order to explore Khiriwong during the mangosteen and durian harvest.
Try Ban Wang Lung Nature and Environment Conservation (Tel. 08 7885 9167) and Tarzan
Adventure Tour (Tel. 08 9909 8533, 08 1824 8880) if seeking a guide.
