Itinerary description

DAY 2 - Hiked from Dixons Hut to lake Meston. Had a later start from Dixsons Hut (11:30am Gentlemens hour) nice walk through to lake Ball, mostly down hill or on flat ground, more of a route than an actual trail here, we left and found the path a few times but it's mostly opens fields so as long as you dodge the sink holes your winning! Stopped to check out the Hut then continued onto lake Adelaide. This track is through some pretty dense bush and scrub so glad we had our gaiters and long sleeve jackets to push through without getting scratched up. This path is narrow and fairly slow going, dips and troughs along the lake for some km's, some nice vantage points along the way. We stopped at the northern end of lake Adelaide for lunch before heading along the dense track that takes you along the eastern side of the lake. Once we were out there was a nice open area, and tossed up the idea of making camp here, it was about 5:30pm and we felt like we had a bit more in the tank so opted to keep going for another hour to get to Lake Meston. Arrived at Lake Meston at around 6:30, great little spot with your own private beach, water is crystal clear and offers up a nice spot to have a swim (we decided to give that activity a miss, it was a bit chilly). Dinner and into bed by 8:30pm :-)
