Itinerary description

Day 2 - Mull Hill 169m, Port Erin, Isle of Man (Marilyn).

Mull Hill is not much of a hill but it is still a UK designated Marilyn and was part of a lovely coastal tour of the southern tip of the Isle of Man starting and finishing from Port Erin. Beautiful weather and a lovely coastal path outing with the highlight being the stunning views out over the Calf of Man.

Parking: Plenty of free street parking at the start point and a large car park past the harbour.
Route: The only difficulty is finding the coast path at the start. There is a large fenced off derelict building at the harbour car park. The path is signed but easily missed as it goes directly behind the building/fence.
From there you just follow the coast path signs keeping the sea to your right 😇. You’ll end up at the stunningly located cafe at Calf Sound looking out over the gorgeous Calf of Man in about an hour. After your coffee keep on the coast path across to Spanish Head and keep going to Stacka Bay where there is an obvious path heading North uphill back to Port Erin.
Shortly after you can go off right as we did to tick off a trig point at Cronk ny Arrey. If you do it is quite well hidden on a footpath on the North side.
Continue north on what is by now a good trail into quaint Cregneash village where you turn left on the road and then right onto Mull Hill. The summit of Mull Hill is nothing but a ww2 pillar box but it has fine views. From here it’s downhill where you get onto a road all the way back to your start point.
Route Statistics: 11.80km with 500m of height gain done in just over three hours.
