Itinerary description

This is a wonderful route to Mt Baden Powell. Much of the trail follows a ridge. On the south facing side of the ridge, there are steep canyons, and you can still a little bit of snow still clinging to Mt Baldy. And to the north you can see the beautiful, endless desert. I also really enjoy the old, battered trees near the top of the mountain. One of the trees is over 1500 years old!

Thank you for posting so many great hikes along the Angeles National Forest. Useful descriptions and always nice pics! Next time I'm in the area I'm sure I'll make a good use of one of those!

I need to make a small correction: The old trees at the top of Mt Baden Powell are limber pines. Indeed, you can find lots of Bristlecone Pine trees in the white mountains. There are also lots of Bristlecone Pine trees at Mt Charleston, near Las Vegas.

Foxtail Pines are close relatives to Bristlecone Pines. I've seen these in the southern part of the sierras, near the cottonwood lakes, and near Mineral King.

Thanks for checking out my wikiloc page!

corrected - Limber pine is the name of the tree, the oldest living relative - Bristlecone pine is in White Mountains, California - over 5,000 years old.
    Great hike - thanks!
