Itinerary description
ENGLISH VERSION BELOW
ENGLISH VERSION
This is a short walk that starts from the arrival of the Grand Jeu chairlift in Aussois (Savoy, France), follows the balcony path and arrives at a particular place, where time has indulged in creating imaginative shapes with limestone and cargneule. A stream with its waterfalls makes it an idyllic place that even the little ones will love. The walk on the balcony path allows you to observe the environment of the arid high-altitude grasslands and admire splendid views.
A short trip, therefore, with little difference in height and with the arrival always downhill, both outward and return, not as demanding as effort, but not easy: it crosses very steep grassy slopes and also some exposed rocks.
Done on 08/31/2021 with Federica and little Beatrice.
About 6 km and 320 m in altitude.
APPROACH
In Aussois reach the upper part of the town where the ski lifts start and take the chairlift. When the lifts are closed, the destination can also be reached starting from the Plan d'Amont car park, or from thé park of the cross and passing by the plateau of Les Arponts, but in this case it is a completely different trip !
ITINERARY
Once off the chairlift, take the path on the right and, after a while, turn right again at the intersection. Then there are no more detours. The trail crosses steep grassy slopes. Approaching the destination it also crosses some rocks (equipped with chains); meets a first waterfall.
The arrival is at an elbow at the point where the high path (uphill to the left) divides from the path that descends to the monolith.
It is surrounded by rocks with imaginative shapes; the Saint Pierre stream, which forms several small waterfalls (but some are not reachable downstream) and crosses a sandy soil, is a pleasant playground for young walkers.
The return takes place on the same path.
At the end of the walk we recommend a snack at the Pedra Levrousa chalet, with an educational farm and a splendid sunny lawn. They also make stopovers.
