Itinerary description
this is the safest and most comfortable track on rainy dates, great for daily training.
starting from dajue temple ancient path, which is where the common 3-peak trail run race normally set off, the trails are pretty clean, tidy, and quiet after rain, not slippery at all. just some mosquitoes around you; be sure to get well prepared.
i love the tender fresh greens along the way, combined with century old forest. you can see more flowers up the hills.
it takes around one hour to reach luobadi, a flat pleatou, actually like a platform garden, one of my favorites.
following it, you may go up the north peak, and then have a rest at miao'erwa. it's cold and windy there, anyway, and it normally is. i don't recommend you to stay long. of course, bring a warm coat with you always since the elevation there is high, much colder than hill foot.
it rains now and then so that we couldn't put off rain coats. then we decided to go down to jiangou village by taking the best-designed-slope road, i say.
i'm sure you will very much enjoy the beautiful wild flowers along the road, which are in blossom almost all year round. i respect the people who have been working on it persistently.
jiangou village looks more picturesque after the rainfall, so i couldn't help snapshotting.
then we went up the hill heading south, the south peak direction. when you keep right, you will enter the trail to luobadi, which is very soft and comfortable, actually one of best trails in beijing. and of course, the layers of mountains on your right hand will amaze you and delight you as well.
if interested, you may go to the farmer's place to see his vegetable garden, chat with him and enjoy some seasonal vegetables. he is always so happy to welcome you and invite you to pick any fresh vegetables as you wish. this time, he asked us to take home some baby napas and melons, "make dumplings with them, organic, awesome." just like your lovely neighbor.
it took us 80 minutes to get to the foot, sunshine out again, with blue sky and lovely flowing white clouds. what a fulfilled day.
