Itinerary description

Easy hiking trail up to the mountain Maja e Tujanit (Tujanit Peak, 1.500m) , in the outskirts of Tirana. We started the track at the upper Dajti express Cable Car Station, in Dajti National Park, some Km. East of Tirana. There is a lower Dajti express cable car station in Tirana, 30' East of downtown by bus. From there, you need to take the cable car, and after 15' you get to the upper station. After droping off and enjoying the views of Tirana from the top, we started walking Northeast, leaving some kind of horses training camp on the right. We saw some abandoned buildings (one of them supposed to be a hotel), and started following a track that fastly goes into the woods. The track is well marked by the typical double red and white band. Some minutes after we saw the firs sign stating 'Mt. Tujanit 1h and 10''. The track goes up like a snake, and from time to time crosses a bigger path suitale for 4wd cars. Once in the 'Qafa e Qershise' (meaning 'Cherry Neak), there is a map and an Info sign, so we turn left (to the Northwest) towards the Tujanit Mt (if you go right, Southeast, you will get to the Dajti peak, which is a little bit further). From the Cherry neak, the path goes uphill, steeper than the previous leg, gaining altitude and views of Tirana. After 30', we got to the Tujanit peak, which is flat enough to take some pics of the city to the Southwest, and some others of the Dajti National park to the East, including lakes and some beautiful peaks nearby. The way back is exactly the same. The track presents no difficulties, easy to follow and perfect for a mid-day excursion.

I have followed this trail  verified  View more

First part of trail is less defined but still ok. Later part basically an old access road. Steep climb but very safe and no technical difficulties. Pleasant forest walk for the majority. Rewarding views at the top
