Itinerary description

approx. 4,5 - 5 hours | 17,5 km | +50 m | -650 m Organizational At 09:00 you will be picked up from your hotel by a transfer organized by Eurohike and taken to the starting point in Prazeres. On your drive, you will cross the island from the north to the south coast. From the starting point you will then hike to your hotel by the sea in Calheta. The descent from the end of the levada (KM 13.6) is on a steep asphalt road, if this is very uncomfortable for you, please call the service phone one hour before and you will be picked up at Restaurante Calheta Green. Your hike Today, except for the final descent, you will hike the entire day in a relaxed manner without any incline along Levada Nova, also called "Eucalyptus Levada". You can really breathe in the dense eucalyptus forest, finding the way is very easy. In numerous bends the watercourse always winds along the mountainside - a wonderful levada hike! The area was heavily affected by the forest fires in 2016, watch how quickly the forest returns to its old beauty! To get to the sea to Calheta, you then hike on small roads partly steeply down through the village of Lombo do Salao and reach the golden sandy beach of your overnight stay with wonderful coastal views! If you would like to avoid the steep piece on asphalt (about KM 13.6 to 15.6), can ask one hour before at the service cell phone for a transfer from Restauarant Calheta Green.
