This tranquil town on the north coast of Madeira is particularly famous for its main attraction: the volcanic swimming pools. These are really worth a visit! You swim directly at the sea in natural pools made of black lava rock! When the waves are high, you can still feel the power and the waves of the ocean very clearly. Tip: There are also volcanic pools at the other end of the promenade (near the Aqua Natura Bay hotel). These are freely accessible and offer a fantastic swimming opportunity. Right there you will also find a nice terrace café. There is also a model of a historical ruin and a popular aquarium to visit in Porto Moniz.
