Itinerary description
This was the first leg of a walk Kannaviou Reservoir – Stavros tis Psokas – Lysos – Agios Georgios (near Coral Bay.)
This leg could also be cycled.
We took the bus from Paphos and got the bus driver to set us down above the reservoir (not a formal bus stop) at the beginning of the road marked with a brown sign to Stavros. (Not at Kannaviou itself.)
On a Monday in late October we only came across one van the whole way, which was from the water company testing water. No people, either. In November: no one.
Accommodation in Stavros was at the 'Rest House'. Not 4* hotel standard (€14 per person 2018) but perfectly adequate, with its own en suite.
To book, ring the forest ranger house. The numbers change but in 2018 we got through on 9964037/99786037/99639508.
Food at the café-restaurant is only toasted panini in November. There was a previous occasion when we were able to book food by telephoning but they will only speak Greek:99425822.
A lovely walk through a wooded valley, up the Ezouza river. Towards the end it opens out to grand views of the Paphos forest.
Easy walking but a fair distance and mostly uphill.
