Itinerary description
Very beautiful and easy hike on the north side of Troodos range. The nature there is somewhat different to what you may see in the south or around the top. It's more close to continental landscapes. The absence of many villages in the area add to secludity and wilderness of the nature around. The dam is rather small and very picturesque. You may witness endemic mouflons along the trail as we did.
The trail is unofficial and linear. It is situated quite close to the buffer zone with north Cyprus thus be attentive and don't drive further to the north until you have an intention to do so.
TERRAIN: dirt road all the way with easy ascents and descents. In the mid of the way there is a section with rock falling, be extra vigilant during rainy seasons.
SEASON: at least half of the way is exposed to the sun. The dam may dry out significantly, thus you may walk on the bed of the feeding river and the dam as well. In rainy seasons you can come up to the river only.
SIGNS: no signs and resting places. You just need to follow the main road.
KIDS: Ok for kids of any walkable age. Prams with good amortization are also possible.
