Itinerary description
There are quite a few of abandoned villages around Lysos. Unfortunately not much left of them as time and decay pay their toll on the buildings, however there are still a few interesting things to see.
We hiked through Zacharia (http://www.prio-cyprus-displacement.net/default.asp?id=531) and Istinjo (Kios) (http://www.prio-cyprus-displacement.net/default.asp?id=496). There is another village, Melandra, with slight deviation from the route.
This trail partially follows E4 route.
TERRAIN: a bit of paved roads (in Lysos and around) but mostly dirt roads with mild ascent and descent.
SEASON: the trail is mostly exposed to the sun. End of winter and spring are the best seasons as you may admire plenty of green fields and hills and plenty of blooming flowers.
SIGNS: no signs, it's unofficial trail.
KIDS: fine for kids of any walkable age, just assess the distance and total elevation.
PS total time includes our lunch in a tavern ;)
