Itinerary description
The best time for hiking in this area is the time of almond blooming. We happened to be there when blooming has just started thus about 10-15% of trees were in full bloom, while the rest had only buds and random flowers here and there.
There are plenty of vine yards in the area as well as olive and carob trees.
The trail is unofficial.
We started the trail by making a deviation to the view point and ancient St. Epifanios church with a great setting above the gorge with the seasonal river.
TERRAIN: mostly dirt and paved roads. Moderate ascents and descents. A couple of parts with rolling stones.
SEASON: the trail is mostly exposed to the sun. After the rains some parts of dirt roads may become pretty muddy.
SIGNS: no signs at all. As for resting places there is one view point with benches and one picnic site near Panagia Valana church.
KIDS: fine for kids of any walkable age but minding the distance and total elevation gain they better be of 8-9 yo min

Hike starts off all up hill! Not good in August. This trail should be done during almond blossom time.
However enjoyable day.
