Itinerary description
Probably the most famous hike in Santo Antão. You can do it both ways, we did from Cruzinha to Ponta do Sol, just because it is easier to get a 'collectivo' taxi in the morning towards Cruzinha (we were sleeping at Ribeira Grande). Starting from ponta do sol would likely require to hire a very expensive taxi to pick us up in cruzinha. Scenic views all the way, the first part until Formiguinhas more dry, with outstanding cliffs and some beaches on the way (we did not swim there, the sea looked dangerous). The second part was breathtaking, the way through corvo was lovely, but then the climb to Fontainhas was nasty, definitely the hardest bit. Nevertheless, totally worth. Great day!
