Itinerary description
Crocknasmug, Inishowen, Donegal, Ireland (Marilyn).
I’m keeping these summaries short as I’m on a two month tour of Ireland and there’s a lot of hills to hike and therefore lots of entries. All mapping used are view ranger digital OS 1:50 or 1:25. You will get the best results by uploading my wikiloc gpx giles into this mapping software.
Parking for this route was in a big free car park next to Inishowen head light house. It’s big but in summer I guess it’s busy. Anyway this one is easy to describe. You will obviously have a map so just follow the Inishowen Head Loop trail. The first half takes you inland and uphill on a rough vehicle track. When you get to the highest point you will see a wide wet trail leading off left. This is only 500m and takes you to the summit where you will see a giant eight foot Jenga..serious..made out of concrete blocks, this is the summit! Walk back to the track and the downhill section takes you easy where it hugs the coast until you get back to the car park. Easy peasy!
A lovely autumn afternoon 10.1k bimble with 371m of ascent done in a 2hrs 9min.
