Itinerary description
This is a 3 day circuit tour in Sabah Malaysia in Borneo Island.
Crocker Range Park is approximately 75km in length and 15km wide, Most of the park is covered with forest in the west coast of Sabah.
I was looking to do a hiking tour in the park but as I could not find much information previous to the trip Edu and me, finally we booked ecotours to perform this Jungle trek.
The trek was amazing, well organized and eco, we slept in the local people houses in the jungle with no one else, we not only had 3 days walking in the nature but learned and experience from the local people in the jungle.
The 3 days trek consisted in:
Day 01: 10 km. Morning trek (5h)
Ecotours pick us up in the hotel in KK and drive for 1 hour to Km 50 Tambunan Road. Upon arrival, commence trekking at 1,500m above sea level, walking downhill on a 45° slope, passing through native villages, primary and secondary jungle/shifting cultivation Overnight stay at villager’s house.
Day 02: 8 km. Morning trek (5h)
Trekking on gentle terrain and ridges, criss-crossing rivers, native villages, jungle, paddy fields and hanging bridges. Overnight stay at villager’s house. Learned about rice culture and gastronomy in the jungle, also how to drink water from bambu
Day 03. 11km. Morning trek (6-7h)
After breakfast, continue last day of jungle trekking passing through a mixture of paddy fields and secondary jungle. Return to Kota Kinabalu.
We were really lucky as every afternoon it started raining a lot and heavy rain, but as we hike in the morning we never got wet.
