Croatia. Kravica Nature Park
We are going to cross the border to Bosnia Herzegovina to enjoy the Kravica Natural Park. We did not know very well what we were going to find at the border crossing. We had read that incredible queues formed, that they sent you out of the car and they checked your luggage for being a foreigner and endless anecdotes that make you lose valuable time in endless waits.
We cross the border on the E65 road, which is now called R424. We entered through that border because we had read that the Kravica Park was between Ljubuski and Studencia. Following the M6 road, in the region of Herzegovina. Although it is signposted, it is not easy to find them. The best thing is to let yourself be guided by the sound of the water, which gets louder as you get closer. Very close to the waterfalls is Medjugorje, the most important pilgrimage sanctuary in the country.
They are one of the most popular meeting points among the population of the area. There were quite a few people having picnics and bathing in the waterfalls, but surprisingly there were no tourists.
These waterfalls, 26 meters high and 200 meters long, fall over the course of the Trezibat River, one of the richest and longest in the Herzegovina area. Its walls form a perfect vertical garden full of grass, mold, moss... In addition, they are surrounded by thick vegetation that greatly cools the environment and makes it a wonderful refuge during the hot Bosnian summers.
Under the waterfall there are some pools where the water was quite warm and people used them as if it were a natural jacuzzi. It was a real joy to feel the fall of the water from behind and be surrounded by such landscapes.
There are a couple of beach bars, bathrooms, an area where there were tents, a lake with a sandy bottom, and some spectacular waterfalls a few meters away. You could go under the waterfall. Swim quietly. Sunbathe. But I'm sorry to inform you that you can no longer go to the big waterfall in the lagoon. Now the perimeter for the bath is delimited as in Krka.
