Short excursion on the access road to Glencoe, a wonderful valley in the Scottish Highlands, famous for its postcard landscapes and starting point for several walks. Driving along the A82, the asphalt road that crosses the "glen" (the valley precisely), allows you to enjoy very suggestive views of an almost completely uncontaminated nature with a harsh and wild appearance. There are numerous points that are worth a stop: among these I would like to point out the Glencoe Waterfall, also known as "The Meeting of Three Waters", the Viewpoint on the Three Sisters of Glencoe (the three most characteristic peaks of Glencoe, the highest of which almost 1200 m) and the Loch Achtriochtan lake, on whose shore we find a friendly flock of sheep grazing with their sweet little lambs.

But let's get to our excursion: we reach the Glencoe Mountain Resort by car. To do this we travel along a very short "single track road" or "single file road": this will be the first (and shortest) of the many single track roads that we will travel on our journey through Scotland. These are single-lane roads on which, at regular intervals, there are rest areas (called "passing places") which allow you to pull over safely to allow the passage of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Once we arrive at the Glencoe Mountain Resort (free parking), we take the “Access Chairlift” (ticket cost: £17 return) which takes us to an altitude of 670 m in about fifteen minutes. During the climb - and then arriving at the mountain station - the view around us is already priceless in itself. Time for some photos and, not satisfied, we take the path on the right. At the first crossroads we follow the sign for the “Creag Dhubh Path”. As you gain altitude, the view opens up further and on several fronts: on one side we have the vast plateau dotted with small lakes and marshes which was already clearly visible from the chairlift, on the other the mountains of Glen Etive and Glen Coe. We thus quickly reach the panoramic point located in a privileged position on a rock spur (here we are at an altitude of 748 m).

Descent along the same route as the outward journey.

Total duration of the walk: 30 minutes. No technical difficulties.
