Itinerary description
This route starts at Babosas, Monte, next to the cable car station with a steep decent followed by a steep accent to pick up the Levada.
The trail tracks the Levada all the way where you can admire the flora and fauna of the region. Occasionally, there are fantastic views over the bay of Funchal, offering a full perspective of the city composed of a dense set of picturesque buildings that have as a background the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes this wonderful island.
Further into the trail, you can visit the famous tea house with its lovely gardens, cheerfully painted with the colors of the hydrangeas and other flowers that compose it.
At the end of the path you will reach the Palheiro Ferreiro´s area, where you can enjoy a different panoramic of Funchal.
It is a very pleasant walk to do, filled with amazing landscapes in a harmonious mix of flora, fauna and residential areas.
PS: Don’t forget that torch for the tunnels as it proved a bit difficult with the mobile phone one.

Great route. We did it backwards. It was a little tricky to find the start from camacha, bust at the end it was such a nice hike!
