With your back to Town Hall and Market, walk L. Keep ahead at roundabout to gently climb Kilwardby Street. Over brow of hill, turn R onto Highfields Close and then L at T-junction. When road ends, go R onto surfaced path around edge of recreation area, cross road and continue in between houses.

Aiming for distant spire of Blackfordby's church, follow field edge, walk through plantation, cross a track to join L-hand field boundary - not track to its L - and gently climb next field to lane at Blackfordby.

In 30m - Blackfordby's Main Street is 20m ahead - turn R onto signed track, which bends R to gate. Immediately branch L at fork along L-hand field edge. At path intersection swing R to marker post and head L up to Burton Road. Cross over, go L and at roundabout bear sharp R along A511. In 100m by signpost on R carefully negotiate A511 to gate and signpost concealed 10m behind embankment.

Cross middle of several fields via stiles making for the line of trees. Climb another stile into young woodland and stick forwards to exit the trees at gate onto lane into Smisby. Veer R at St James' church to T-junction and walk R along B5006.
