Itinerary description
My GPS seems to have struggled under the bridges on this section. The correct distance is around 22km, elevation gain 540m, elevation loss 1760m.
This is the least exciting day. The path starts off nicely climbing to a pass then turn to the left. It soon descends to cut through a ski resort. Note, you descend to the left of the peak in the middle of the fence, where there is a section that can be moved. After following dirt roads for a while and passing by lifts the path cuts down the hillside and then parallels the road below. After a short walk on the road there is a ski restaurant, which is open in summer. This appears around 2 hours after the start so a perfect opportunity for a coffee.
Now comes a small up and a pretty path through the trees. Unfortunately in summer it soon meets the mountain bike trails and becomes a shared path. Turning left at a saddle the path becomes a little messy where bikes have made large tracks. A short road section follows, then through the woods (where my GPS goes strangely wrong - the path is obvious ignore any weird wiggles). Then to the village of Sispony. Leaving the village is a steep descent ending near a cemetery and then a horrible concrete roundabout. The path goes under this and follows the river. It is surprisingly nice given its position by the main road.
The walk through the town is dull, I made a few errors due to a huge rainstorm which stopped me looking at my phone for the route. Point towards the big shiny pyramid of Caldea if you suffer a similar fate.
Finally the TI office and the reward of a rather fancy looking buff. Woo.
Please note, I took my route from
Coronando Picos
