Itinerary description
An interesting stage with lots of variety. Initially hike up behind the refuge to pass a dam. Continue up to Pessons peak then follow the ridge and cut down on a steep, rocky zig-zag path. Once at the bottom there is an area of beautiful small lakes and scattered trees. Even better, on the far side of Estany Primer, there is a bar/restaurant. An ideal place to stop for a morning coffee and croissant (well in summer and presumably winter).
The route then crosses ski resort roads and runs, watch the map it's easy to miss the GR markings. Eventually you end up near the CG2 road. This is the low point of the hike. The subsequent up is steep and long, the first section after the road being particularly steep. The path near the ridge can be tricky to spot. But if you head up you will, unless hopelessly lost, cross the ridge path.
On the way down you pass the Siscaro lakes, you may deserve a rest and paddle there. Down towards the Siscaro refuge and then sadly back up again after crossing the stream. This section, close to Juclar can be a little tricky with steep, slippy sections and an area with a long (and unnecessary?) chain. After around 40 minutes you encounter the main route up to Juclar and then it is all plain sailing.
Juclar lake is large, deep and cold. I recommend Siscaro if you want a dip.
Please note, I took my route from
Coronando Picos
