Itinerary description
The first day and my only cheat. I didn't want to walk through the town so got a lift to the main road. The path from CG1 goes up just by the petrol station - which is a much nicer start than walking through the streets. The path through the town is provided by the Tourist Information people, with a little map.
The route from the petrol station ascends through a woodland area, on a wide path. It can be humid and is steeper than much of the rest of the days walk. Later it turns into a more normal path and the valley opens out more. The route simply follows the valley, with some beautiful meadows by the stream for you to relax. Most of the time it is a gentle up, with flatter sections at the meadows and mountain huts. If you carry a filter there are plenty of opportunities to fill up with water.
Near the final refuge the way becomes more rocky as you go above the tree line.
Enjoy today, you are fresh and, despite being uphill, it is the most gentle. If you set off early you can spend a lot of time enjoying the views and rest stops before reaching the refuge.
A word about the refuges ... Most can only be supplied by helicopter (Sorteny being the exception). Extra food/drink is expensive. Showers may cost extra. The picnic, 13 euros in summer 2022, is the most bank breaking and a surprise since it is not included in what you pay when booking the refuges through the Coronallacs site. It may be a good idea to bring a loaf of bread and something to spread on it. The evening meals are always filling.
Please note, I took my route from

The description there is in Spanish. My contribution, apart from making myself very tired, is to write in English.
