Itinerary description

Sierra National Forest Service recommends this parking lot and start point as the lot is bigger than those on the two end-points on this trail. It's also a shorter hike to both falls than to start from the north or south.

The trail is mostly at a moderate grade and in the shade, with a few short steep sections. Wildflowers blossom along the entire trail in the early summer. The footing is generally good, although the trail is narrow. It is often overgrown with bushes growing over the trail. The forest along both sides of the trail has experienced fires and many blackened trunks and stumps are visible along both sides of the trail.

Corlieu Falls

The trail to Curlier Falls was at this time littered with tree stumps, large and small. It is passable, including side trails around the larger fallen logs.

These are easy to get past, with a small diversion off the trail. These were there in June 2022.

Intersection

Shortly after leaving the parking lot, the trail to the south end of Lewis Creek Trail diverges right (south). This also provides a means to get to Corlieu Falls, although the access trail at the end is very steep.

Trail Down to Corlieu Falls

This alternative west-side access to Corlieu Falls is an unofficial steep trail down from the Lewis Creek Trail just a few hundred yards south on an intersection connecting up to the parking area on Route 41.
