Itinerary description
Good through hike originally intended to be completed over two nights camping at Brahminy and Dutgee, however due to good headway made on the first day I pushed on to Litoria walkers' camp, arriving after dusk. This was almost exactly the halfway point of the extended Great Walk route which takes in Double Island Point.
The first day had far more interesting and varied scenery, with the approach to Mount Seawah on from Teewah Village allowing spectacular ocean views to the east and Lake Cootharaba to the west. The compacted sand trail atop ridges was especially enjoyable. Crossing the Cooloola Sandpatch was another highlight.
The only negative was the almost 10km stretch along Teewah beach leading up to the Double Island Point lighthouse, as the beach had heavy 4WD traffic which detracted from the otherwise pristine coastline. Ditto for the shorter Northern Beach section after the lighthouse, however the views from the elevated lighthouse made it worthwhile, and presumably the number of 4WDs would be smaller on a weekday.
All in all a very enjoyable walk, though a long car shuffle is required between Rainbow Beach and the Trailhead at Noosa Heads.
