Itinerary description
This is the TOCW Manningtree circular walk using the Saturday Walkers Club suggested shortcut along the Stour, missing out Stratford St. Mary but keeping the diversion to East Bergholt church. It is an improvement at times of heavy traffic.
Particularly near the banks of the Stour, paths may be slippery or flooded.

Used this trail but from Dedham (a very pretty village). Plenty of parking (£4 for the day at the time). The English Rose tea room is a good starting point (good tea and teacake). V attractive properties and scenery right through to just shy of Manningtree. Had to go off piste a couple of times due to a fence and a field crop (footpaths around both didn’t cause any issues at all). Crossing the wetlands up to Flatford gave a completely different view and was just as pretty. Lunch at Flatford is always a good move, lots of visitors and people using the water. On up to Bergholt for a mooch around the church (atheist church architecture bore here-go figure) before starting the final leg back to Dedham. A cracking walk on a glorious day in September. 9.9/10 Go to the top of the class.
