Itinerary description
This trail has it all. It starts at the base of the Rockpile and heads through an easy to navigate field of boulders. It then starts steadily climbing on a graded wide packed path following Babel Brook. We heard whistling marmots for most of the trail. At the end of the trail, just before the lake, is a large boulder field that you have to scramble over to get to the lakeshore. After seeing Moraine Lake or Lake Louise, Consolation Lake itself pales in comparison. The trail itself is the star for this hike, and I highly recommend it.
