Itinerary description
This is a very interesting place to visit. It seems a few years ago the Army Corp of Engineers built a dam here. I assume they one day would be flooding the area, but that has not happened as of my 2011 visit. I did some GEOCaching around the area, but there are a number of blazed trails and roads to explore. The area was just beautiful during my August visit - flowers, both land and water were quite plentiful! There area a few ponds scattered around the area, with white pond lilies galore. You can walk up and around the dam, which is quite massive. You can park near the dam or at the place I parked. The brook we encountered was just enchanting! I suggest you get a trail map or use a hiking GPS to keep track of where you are. If you would like to read more about hiking, visit my website at www.tomchoma.com - happy trails to all!
