Combe Hay 12km geology circular walk
This circular walk starts at the park and ride. Lots of ups and downs. Mostly on good foot paths

Waypoints

Stop 1-bedded bath stone

Bedding is thinner here than at Browns Folly/ the water depth is interpreted to deeper with finer materials.

Site of fullers Earth mine. Made ground

Mines are in the upper part of the fullers Earth formation - grove mine operated until 1960s. Evidence for Roman presence. Fullers Earth help to process wool. Mid 1800s uses for other purposes. Cosmetics etc.

Stop 3- Forest Marble

I-geology shows Forest Marble this is down thrown. Faults down throw to south. On the tramway are pieces of black shale (Carboniferous mudstone) with plant fossils
