Itinerary description
Technical level: easy
Fitness level: moderate
Crowd: light
This out-and-back hike follows the Colorado Trail, west from the South Platte River trailhead. The trail climbs steeply from the trailhead, but then levels off when you enter the 1996 Buffalo Creek Fire burnt area. Due to the lack of cover, I wouldn't recommend this hike on a hot summer day. But it's a great hike when the weather is cooler.
